What is NRL22 ?

NRL22 stands for “National Rifle League .22,” a precision shooting sport that uses .22 Long Rifle (LR) rimfire rifles to engage steel targets at varying distances and positions. It was established in 2017 to make precision rifle competitions more accessible and affordable, especially for those without access to long-range facilities.

What Makes NRL22 Unique

  • Affordability: By using .22LR rifles, which are less expensive than centerfire rifles and have more affordable ammunition, NRL22 lowers the cost barrier for participants.

  • Accessibility: Matches are designed to be held at ranges as short as 100 yards, making it feasible for clubs without extensive facilities to host competitions.

  • Diverse Participation: NRL22 encourages participation from all age groups and skill levels, with divisions such as Open, Base, Ladies, Young Guns (ages 8–16), Old Gun (60+), Air Rifle, and Adaptive.

Competition Format

Each month, NRL22 releases a standardized Course of Fire (COF) that includes five stages. These stages challenge shooters with various target sizes (from ¼ inch to 4 inches) and distances (typically 25 to 200 yards), incorporating different shooting positions and time constraints.

For those seeking more advanced challenges, NRL22X events offer extended distances and more complex scenarios, serving as a bridge between standard NRL22 matches and centerfire competitions.
