Base Class Rifle Rules

  1. Budget-Oriented:
    • The rifle and scope combined MSRP must be $1500 USD or less as listed on the manufacturer’s website.
  2. Allowed Accessories:
    • Interchangeable/removable grips using factory attachment points
    • Bottom metal/trigger guard/magwell
    • Scope rings and bases
    • Bipods
    • Suppressors
    • Data card holders
    • Magazines and magazine holders
    • Auto bolt releases
    • Extended magazine releases
    • Bubble and digital levels
    • Bolt knobs
    • Rail-attached weights or weights using factory attachment points
  3. Barrel Rules:
    • Factory barrels must remain in their original factory specifications.
    • Threading of the barrel is allowed.
    • Barrel tuners or items acting as barrel tuners are not allowed.
    • Thread protectors and suppressors are allowed.
  4. Trigger Rules:
    • Safe adjustments to the factory trigger are allowed.
    • Aftermarket triggers are prohibited.
  5. Stock Modifications:
    • Drilling holes in the stock is not allowed except for specific modifications:
      • Bedding of the action
      • Mounting a flat rail (e.g., Arca or Picatinny) to the bottom of the forend
      • Adding a cheek riser
      • Adding a sling stud
    • The rifle must remain in its factory-configured stock/chassis.
    • Paint and cerakote applications to the factory stock/chassis are allowed.
    • Removing the barreled action from the factory stock/chassis and placing it in an aftermarket stock not available from the manufacturer and not available as an option to purchase as a complete rifle classifies the rifle as Open division.
  6. Other Specifications:
    • Internal weights are not allowed.
    • The production status and MSRP on the first day of the season are valid for the entire season.
    • Left-handed models with higher MSRP will be recognized at the MSRP of the right-handed version.
    • Rifles and scopes out of production are eligible if their last production year MSRP adjusted for inflation falls within the MSRP limits and the rifle meets all other criteria.
  7. Inspection and Compliance:
    • Match Directors should inspect rifles to ensure they meet criteria.
    • Competitors should assist Match Directors in ensuring compliance.
    • For the National Championship, these rules are strictly followed, and inspections will be conducted.

These rules are designed to keep the Base division accessible and affordable while maintaining a level playing field for all competitors.
